The hotel was beatiful. The beach is amazing. The staff were very kind. My only complaints are that the food and drink were way over priced for the quality. I ended up leaving the resort for better food that was a fourth the price. Many other things were way over priced as well.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! When we arrived they told us that we did not get the bungalow we had booked (4th or 5th row), but we had to stay in a room behind the 5th row (next to the laundry room). The room was disgusting. Cockroaches in the bathroom and the whole room smelled like urine. They had put airfreshener everywhere and that made the smell even worse. The next day we got a bungalow, however we did not get any compensation for staying in that horrible room. We talked to the manager and he did not want to give us money back since we booked so cheap through a travel agent. I contacted the travel agent, but when they contacted Lanta Palace they said that we did not complain about anything. So watch out for the horrible manager!!!! The staff at the restaurant (esp. at breakfast) is not service minded at all. They should smile! Also, the pool is way smaller than in the pictures

they should not let the hotel get away with putting someone in a room that I assume is a staff room.

This is an excellent hotel, quiet and secluded hotel with first class accomodation and freindly management and staff who go out of their way to assist. We stayed in Villa 233, very close to pool and sea.
We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year holiday with our 4 year old son. The spa facilities and pool are excellent. Our son was able to stand and swim in two of the three pools. The New Year's eve Gala Dinner was not cheap but worth the price.
TIdes were unusally high which resulted in quite a narrow beach (only one metre wide at times). We were able to swim safely in the sea but this hotel would not suit a familly seeking a traditional beach holiday. There are free hotel cars / minibuses to Chaweng Beach for those who want to take advantage of this very busy and popular resort.
The hotel restaurant offers a good quality buffet breakfast, eggs cooked to order, and a fairly extensive menue (western and thai food) for lunch and dinner at reasonable prices, though food is not of the highest international quality for very discerning or critcal tastes.
Staff are well trained and eager to please. Evening entertainment ( alternate duo and trio) were charming. Other guests mainly Western European, pleasant couples and families.
Gardens are well maintained with beautiful flowers
I would highly recommend this resort to those seeking a realxing holiday in a truly beautiful environment.
It is a lovely as it appears in the photos.

Rather confusing in making payment through T/T. If possible give the exact amount including tax and any other hidden charges. -----------------------------
Answer: Dear Mr. Lim,
We don't have any hidden charges. There rates are all inclusive. If the payment made by credit card, the exact amount in Thai Baht will be charged. However, if the payment is made through T/T (Telegraphic Tranfer), the exact amount that we will be receiving is not very accurate as it depends on the number of banks involved and the agreement and rate between our local bank and the client's bank. Some of the clients' banks have direct contact and agreement with our local bank and the transaction is faster and the cost is cheaper. Some of the clients' banks do not have direct contact and agreement with our bank so that the transactions have to be done through other banks and there are more bank charges incurs due to many banks involve in one transaction. We apologise for your inconvenience caused for the confusion due to the external factors which were not under our control.
Best Regards Saowaluk L. Accountant

A very charming & cosy hotel which is well located. Travel to major shopping locations were not a problem.
The staff is wonderful, especially the smiley girls at the reception. Room is clean but there are funny bugs with green juice in them crawling around. Had to terminate a few during our stay.
Only major downside during out stay was the constant sound of construction works going on. This coupled with the original noise you expect by a busy road made sleeping a truely challenging event.
Would recommend this hotel to budget travellers. For the price we are paying, its a good bargain.

Good service and attentiveness is what I appreciate in Oakwood. Though it is a bit of a hassle to take 2 elevators to reach your room, the pleasantly peaceful facilities deck takes all the trouble away. I had to compliment a particular reception who makes me feel so comfortable and at home. Her nickname is Apple. Really friendly!

Absolut sea pearl can be a nice place to stay, but in the periode we stay there, they change and paint and rehab the hotel. So I think we was unlucky with our stay.Exsempel : two days without curtain. One week we had a new tv standing in the paperbox in our room. The lift was out of order in one week.No water the last day when it was wery necesarry to take a shower before return.
No escuse from the hotel,no message. So we was not so happy

Good hotel in a convenient location close to Sky Train station. Shopping at Siam close by is excellent and has a great selection of well priced restaurants.
Room was clean and tidy with regular maid service.
Only dissapointment was that our room looked out onto a building site which is going 24/7, very noisy! Other gripe was that breakfast was very small, considering the price of food in Thailand I thought they could have been a bit more generous.
Overall Samran Place is a good hotel at a good price and will be hard to beat for the economical traveller. I would stay again.

| Ratings: 10/10 for Nora Beach Resort & Spa, Koh Samui |
Reservation Review: |
|
Having booked on the internet, knowing nothing at all about Koh Samui, I am so glad I chose to stay at the Nora. My 14 nights there were wonderful, very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend it. I can't believe it is only 2 years old as the gardens are so lush and beautiful. My hotel room was quite spacious, sprinkled with frangipani here and there, and maybe only lacked a DVD player. The staff are lovely, so friendly and helpful, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Every morning I ate way too much of their great breakfast buffet in the open air restaurant right on the beach watching the sun rise... bliss!
If you want 'boom boom' music and lots of bar type activity, Nora probably isn't the place to go as it is at the northernmost end of Chaweng Beach, around the headland from the very busy main area where it looks like everyone is packed like sardines on the beach! However, every day I walked about 30 minutes along the beach (very leisurely and pleasant) into the main street, and every night I took another walk as it is really pretty all lit up with candles. By taxi (100 baht) or songthaew (50 baht) this would be maybe 5-6 minutes, so really you are as close or as far away as you want to be in terms of 'action'.
If I had one criticism, it would be that there are no specific non-smoking areas, and coming from Australia, I am not used to being wreathed in foul cigarette smoke while I am eating or having a coffee. This is not, however, a specific criticism of the Nora as clearly the cultural shift away from smoking has not yet reached Thailand generally.
Forgot to mention, the pool is very nice, so nice that I even took photos of it!

The setting of the hotel was very beautiful, even during rainy season and the accommodation itself was very clean and well kept, we stayed in a standard room which we found to be very spacious and very well decorated. The staff are very helpful and friendly, who go out of there way to help you. The only downside is that the hotel is situated a distance from the mainroad and is expensive to get a hotel car to the any of the town areas, however you can rent motorbikes.
Theres plenty to see in the area, including waterfalls and elephant trekking.
